On Friday, August 5th, 2022, Councillor Oliver Jacob filed his nomination papers to be the next Mayor of the Township of McNab/Braeside in the upcoming October 24th municipal election.
Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, Oliver brings a wealth of municipal knowledge and experience to his mayoral campaign. As a sitting McNab/Braeside Councillor, Oliver has championed community engagement at all levels, community safety and well-being (including work with the OPP), and actively supports programs that increase affordable housing options through the Greater Arnprior Community Council on Poverty and Homelessness. He also brings proven leadership experience through various volunteer roles including as a Board Member of Arnprior Regional Health, former Co-Chair of the Renfrew County Youth Network and as an Advisory Council and Investment Committee volunteer with United Way East Ontario.

His campaign will focus on three main pillars:
- Providing real leadership to council and the community
- Supporting enhanced parks and recreation programming
- Ensuring long-term financial and environmental sustainability for future generations
His vision for McNab/Braeside is a strong community where our unique character and distinctive history is preserved and enhanced, while we foster growth and economic development to keep our communities sustainable and competitive into the future. Where we encourage responsible development while keeping close attention to the necessity of environmental stewardship. Where present and future generations can enjoy the immense beauty of our natural environment from the Ottawa River to White Lake and the Burnstown Beach.
