About Me and Why I’m Running

Good day folks! I’m Oliver Jacob and I’m running to be the next Mayor of the Township of McNab/Braeside. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to those who I have not had a chance to meet yet.

I was born in Almonte and raised by a single mother in Rural Renfrew County (Horton and Braeside). Starting in my childhood, I’ve always been involved in the community, including with Valley Animal Rescue, Renfrew County Youth Network and the RCDSB Parent Involvement Committee. I went away to Nova Scotia to attend Acadia University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with double major in Political Science and History but came back to Renfrew County to serve the residents of the Township of McNab/Braeside as one of their elected Councillors from 2018 to 2022.

Professionally, I have worked in municipal administration for over a decade with the Town of Arnprior (2014 to 2025) and Township of McNab/Braeside (2025), labour market planning with the Labour Market Group of Renfrew and Lanark (2020 to 2022) and rural transportation planning with the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (2025 to present). I also dedicate much of my free time to serving my community as a board member and volunteer with several community organizations like Arnprior Regional Health, United Way East Ontario and the Arnprior and District Food Bank.

As your former Township Councillor between 2018 and 2022, I know what a privilege it is to be your representative at the Council table and what it takes to do a good job. You deserve a leader who understands the role, cares deeply about the community and is eager to work with, not against, Township ratepayers and residents to build an active community, strong economy and innovative municipality with an eye to always improving what we can offer for our residents.

Over the next four months, I look forward to working to earn your trust and support by sharing more about what I care about and by talking with you at community events, local businesses and on your doorsteps. Let’s bring some real change to the Township and get back to the hard work of building McNab/Braeside for all Township residents!
